Hotel Boy

After an apartment fire, five-year-old Henri had to live in a welfare hotel with his mother and brother. The story is told by Henri’s teacher. The reader will hear and see the hardships of the living conditions, boredom the children face, and the constant search for a job for the mother. This book almost brought me to tears. It was so sad to read about Henri and his family and everything they went through. Although it was sad I did enjoy the book. The photographs taken by the teachers really connect you to the story. I also like that it was a non fiction book. I tend to read more fiction books but this one was one I liked that was a nonfiction.
